Kids Sewing Classes
Exciting news for young creatives aged 8-17! Join our sewing classes at Common Thread, where all skill levels are welcome, and no experience is needed. We specialize in teaching young people the craft of sewing. Our weekly classes run from January to May and September to December. For June-August, view our summer camp calendar.
We provide a nurturing environment for kids to explore the world of sewing. New students will start with three beginner projects designed to build their skills progressively. With each project, they’ll learn new techniques and gain confidence in their sewing abilities. Intermediate to advanced students can choose from our project library and explore new projects introduced monthly. We believe students are more engaged when they have a choice in what they are creating.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age do you start teaching sewing?
Our machine sewing classes begin at age 8. This is a firm safety policy we are unable to make exceptions to, regardless of skill level or parental supervision.
How do I register for a class or camp?
All classes and camps can be booked through our website. Click here to view the full calendar of classes & events. Full payment is required to secure your spot.
How many students are in each class?
Our classes are intentionally small and intimate — typically 6 to 10 students — so every student receives personalized attention from our instructors.
What should students bring to class?
Just themselves and their enthusiasm! All sewing machines, materials, and supplies are provided. We ask that students arrive right at their class start time — not early, as our studio runs back-to-back sessions.
