FAQs

Classes & Events

What age do you start teaching sewing?

Our machine sewing classes begin at age 8. This is a firm safety policy we are unable to make exceptions to, regardless of skill level or parental supervision.

Do you offer classes for adults?

Yes! We offer a full range of adult sewing classes for all skill levels — from complete beginners to experienced sewists looking to expand their skills. Adults and children are taught in separate classes. View our adult class schedule here.

What kinds of classes do you offer?

We offer after-school sewing classes for kids, weekend workshops, adult sewing classes, summer sewing camps, a Friday Sewcial drop-in program, and specialty workshops including embroidery and needlepoint. Visiting crafters also teach specialty classes throughout the year. View our calendar here.

Do you offer summer camps?

Yes! Our summer sewing camps are a highlight of the year. Students work on projects, build skills, and leave with finished items they are proud of. Camp enrollment is available through our website here.

How do I register for a class or camp?

All classes and camps can be booked through our website here using our Sawyer booking platform. Full payment is required to secure your spot.

How many students are in each class?

Our classes are intentionally small and intimate — typically 6 to 10 students — so every student receives personalized attention from our instructors.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before class start time are eligible for a full refund or credit toward a future class. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before class time are non-refundable. No-shows forfeit their registration fee.

What should students bring to class?

Just themselves and their enthusiasm! All sewing machines, materials, and supplies are provided. We ask that students arrive right at their class start time — not early, as our studio runs back-to-back sessions.

Do you offer private lessons?

Please contact us directly at (909) 912-5120 to inquire about private lesson availability.

Do you host sewing birthday parties?

Yes! We host sewing birthday parties for kids. Please contact us directly at (909) 912-5120 to discuss availability, pricing, and details.

How long have you been in business?

Common Thread Claremont is proudly celebrating its 10th anniversary as a brick-and-mortar studio in 2025–2026. We opened our first studio in 2016 and reimagined it as Common Thread Claremont in 2019.
